in the area at the famous Mount Amiata, the attacks are occurring frequently in flocks of sheep from wolves.
If a pack of wolves attacking any large herbivore in their territory, unlike the solitary subject is limited to small prey. They live mainly in forest areas of plains, mountains and meadows.
The agriculture commissioner has proposed the initiative in a selective hunting, arguing that animals are no longer endangered but now dangerous.
The proposal was, of course, immediately rejected and new proposals are made regarding the use of alternative methods that have worked in other countries.
Among the alternatives are:
- the installation of solar panels connected to the lights that illuminate the flock at night, it persuades the wolves not to attack but the farmers refused to plant facilities;
- the use of recordings eliminate them.
Farmers can still secure their flock of 20-30 cents per head to be compensated in case of attack.
