whales the better power savings

Scholars of the University of British Columbia, Canada, with new cutting-edge tools, they found that the white whales (Balaenoptera musculus ) calculate their time diving to save more energy as possible.

It seems that these animals are very prarsimoniosi regarding their supply of energy to save money so that you do not dive for more than 15 minutes.

Despite having the opportunity to go under the sea surface, a long time given the huge reserves of oxygen, limits its whale hunts to a quarter of an hour, which saves the energy that otherwise would spend in swimming and still ingest large amounts of food.

Scholars have calculated that, thanks to a huge mouth, the whale can swallow in one gulp 2 million Kilojoule energy, while feeding on krill, tiny beings.

This behavior provides the whales, who eat at least 6 times, a total of 90 times the energy lost in swimming, which is stored for periods of food scarcity.
